Meet Charlotte and Louise – the latest additions to the Seven District Board

Seven District’s new Chair and new Board member both have distinguished careers. Still, they are both humble, and before accepting their new respective roles, asked themselves what they could bring to the table of Seven District. However, when it comes to both Charlotte Brogren, with more than two decades of experience in leading roles in both the public and private sector, and Louise Kores, with ten years’ of experience in the investment industry, their qualities and professional background leave no room for doubt.

Louise Kores & Charlotte Brogren

The Golden Club Foundation, funded by Deloitte and Swedish Board Academy (StyrelseAkademin), awards Chair of the Year in the listed and unlisted category for “meritorious chairship” with the aim of “clarifying and raising awareness of this important role by highlighting good examples of how it has been exercised in practice.” This year, the Golden Club in the listed category was awarded to Seven Districts’ new Chair Charlotte Brogren, who holds the same position at listed HMS Networks, a global industrial communication technology provider.

“At first, I thought it was a practical joke when I received a text message from Caroline af Ugglas [chair of the Golden Club jury]. I believe I received the award because HMS Networks has developed so well, which is due to a fantastic team and cooperation between the management and the board”, says Charlotte Brogren.

Louise Kores is also an experienced board member and business builder, bringing almost ten years of experience from the investment industry, most recently from Patricia Industries, that manage the private portfolio of Investor AB. Also for her, it was important to ensure that she could bring something new to the table on the Board of Seven Districts before accepting the role.

“When I met the team at Seven District and got to know Charlotte, it just felt right.”

“For me, it is never obvious to say yes to an assignment before understanding that we share the same values and beliefs. Ideally there should be a wide range of profiles and experiences, but still individuals who share the same basic philosophy. When I met the team at Seven District and got to know Charlotte, it just felt right. While we bring different skill sets, we all agree that building long-term and sustainable businesses should be the basis for what we shall do. I therefore gladly accepted the assignment”, says Louise Kores.

Charlotte’s understanding of Seven District is very similar to Louise’s.

“I am very impressed by these experienced and competent entrepreneurs and business leaders. They have a genuine drive of wanting to support entrepreneurs and, in the long run, society, not just the company’s own profits. My spontaneous reaction was, what do they need me for? However, it’s very important to have an outsiders perspective on what is done well and what needs improvement.”

With their varying background and experience, Charlotte and Louise together bring extensive experience of building companies in different sectors and stages of maturity. Experience they seek to bring to the Board of Seven District.

“People are rarely driven only by a paycheck. They are motivated and interested in different things, so the challenge is to understand their motivations.”

“The challenges and questions a company face is often the same, regardless of size or industry fundamentals. Essential considerations such as building the right team, determining the most suitable strategy and securing funding are key for all entrepreneurs and business leaders, albeit with the understanding that the solutions must be tailored accordingly.”

Despite Charlotte’s uniquely multifaceted experience, she explains that the transition between the different environments has been nearly seamless. Whether it’s a seasoned or young company, public or private, she emphasize that in the end of the day, it’s all about people.

“People are rarely driven only by a paycheck. They are motivated and interested in different things, so the challenge is to understand their motivations. Once you do that, the work looks quite similar.”

Now, they embark on their mission together with Seven District with great commitment and ambitions for the future, having the investment company continue to establish itself as a power house to be reckoned with. Diverse in experience but united in ethics and vision, Seven District is thrilled to welcome their new Chair and Board member to the team.
