Sightic and Devant at InCabin Barcelona — exploring the next wave of in-cabin intelligence

Last week, the InCabin Europe trade show in Barcelona brought together the global automotive community around one of the most dynamic technology shifts in recent years — the rise of intelligent driver and occupant monitoring systems (DMS/OMS).
Seven District, represented by Anders Jacobson, visited the show to connect with industry leaders, explore emerging trends, and follow the rapid technological and regulatory development within the in-cabin domain. Two of our portfolio companies — Sightic and Devant — were also present, each contributing to key innovation areas shaping the future of driver safety and perception AI.
Sightic — world-leading DUI analytics at the center of attention
Sightic exhibited its latest Driver Under Influence (DUI) detection solution — an add-on module for Driver Monitoring Systems that enables reliable, software-based identification of driver impairment from alcohol.
The timing could not be more relevant. Regulatory bodies such as Euro NCAP, IIHS, and NHTSA are now prioritizing DUI detection as the next major safety requirement following DMS adoption. From 2026, Euro NCAP’s updated protocols will explicitly include driver impairment detection — making Sightic’s technology a key enabler for compliance and improved road safety.
Behind its breakthrough capability lies the world’s largest proprietary dataset of naturalistic impaired driving behavior — collected through thousands of data sessions under diverse conditions. This dataset gives Sightic a unique advantage in accuracy, robustness, and speed of deployment of DUI solutions for OEMs and Tier-1s.
“The interest and engagement we experienced at InCabin underline how fast the market is moving toward integrating DUI analytics into more mainstream DMS platforms,” says Snjezana Simic, Senior VP Automotive at Sightic. “With our proprietary data and technology, we’re enabling the industry to move from concept to implementation — turning regulatory pressure into meaningful safety innovation.”
Devant — enabling faster and safer DMS development with synthetic data
Devant, led by founder and CEO Richard Bremer, attended the show for meetings and technology scouting with leading industry players. The company’s synthetic data platform enables customers to train and validate AI perception systems — such as DMS, OMS, and ADAS — faster, more safely, and with greater diversity than traditional real-world data collection allows.
As automotive perception models increasingly rely on deep learning, the ability to simulate edge cases and diverse human behavior has become essential. Devant’s approach helps customers drastically reduce both development time and cost while improving model accuracy and safety outcomes.
Importantly, even Euro NCAP has now indicated that synthetic data will play a growing role in its 2029 “Safety Assist / Safe Driving” protocols, underlining the industry’s recognition of its value in building safer and more robust AI-driven safety systems.
“The discussions we had at InCabin confirm the growing importance of synthetic data as a foundation for traffic safety and ultimately the reduction of traffic-related fatalities,” says Richard Bremer, CEO of Devant. “We see strong momentum from the industry to accelerate both training and validation of DMS — and synthetic data will be key to getting there.”
From regulation to innovation
For Seven District, InCabin Barcelona was not only an opportunity to support our portfolio companies but also to gain deeper insights into the technologies, players, and policy frameworks shaping this rapidly evolving field.
“The intersection between regulation, AI, and safety is moving faster than ever,” says Anders Jacobson, one of the founders of Seven District. “Both Sightic and Devant exemplify our investment philosophy — supporting Swedish, tech-enabled niche leaders who operate in areas where specialization, speed, and focus matter most.”
The momentum in driver and occupant monitoring continues to grow as the industry moves from compliance-driven DMS rollouts toward holistic, software-defined in-cabin intelligence. With differentiated capabilities in data, AI, and system integration, Sightic and Devant are positioned to play important roles in shaping the next generation of safer and smarter vehicles.
